Formed in January of 2012, the Acoustic Communion Service is a new and growing worship community at First Presbyterian Church. The vision of this service is to be Christ-centered in all things, and to be simple, formative and participatory.
Musically, we hold to this same vision and strive to fulfill our role in the journey through the liturgy each Sunday. Our primary focus is on facilitating true and authentic worship of our God, while also pursuing excellence and relevance in our music.
Stylistically we tend toward modern, acoustic sounds, but tend to sing ancient lyrics that contribute to the formative nature of the service. Some call them old hymns, but we prefer to think of them as deep and time tested texts overflowing with gospel language and rich in beauty.
We would love to add variety to our sound with violin, cello, piano, or other string or percussive instruments. We are also always looking for additional lead/backup singers, percussionists, bass players and guitarists to add to our rotation. We have occasional midweek practices on Wednesday nights and also meet about an hour before service each Sunday.
