Three people sit on a bench against a brick wall at First Presbyterian Baton Rouge, each holding a red coffee cup and smiling at the camera.

The Scriptures affirm again and again that God has created us to live in community—with him and with one another. One of the most practical ways to do this in a church our size is to commit to being part of a community group.

When we prayerfully say, “As the Lord leads me, I am committing to walk with these people for the next 10 weeks,” we make room for the Spirit to create and deepen meaningful bonds with the Lord. Because none of us are perfect, those relationships can sometimes be difficult, but much more often, God uses them to draw us deeper into Christ and mature us as his disciples.

This fall, our groups will follow our sermon series through the Gospel of Luke. As we take time together to reflect on Luke’s words and consider how they apply to our lives today, we can expect the Holy Spirit to be at work.
