To date, the Pastor Search Committee has considered approximately 120 potential candidates. For most candidates, three to four committee members have listened to two or three sermons, averaging 35 minutes each. Altogether, this represents approximately 175 hours of sermon content and more than 600 collective hours of
committee review.
From that initial work, preliminary interviews have been conducted with several candidates and multiple rounds of deeper conversations with a smaller group. A presentation at the EPC General Assembly in June was very well received, and we were encouraged by the thoughtful response and support of respected leaders throughout the denomination.
Most importantly, the Committee continues to experience a remarkable sense of unity, peace, and presence of the Holy Spirit. Confidence is high that the Lord is actively at work in this process and remains fully in control of both the timing and the outcome. At each meeting, time is set aside for earnest prayer—for the person God may be preparing to call, for the life and future of our church, and for wisdom, humility, and discernment as this important work continues.
